Sometimes decisions are difficult

I think that many of us go through periods in our lives when we find it difficult to make decisions, we feel indecisive, I know that I have.

Dr Bach invested a lot of effort in studying the human condition and the various mental states that we might experience during our lives. Indecisiveness, or the difficulty in making up our minds, was one of the conditions that he observed. In fact, two of the 38 remedies directly relate to decision making.

Bach Remedies for indecision: Cerato & Scleranthus

The first of the two decision making remedies is Cerato.

Cerato can help when we doubt ourselves when making decisions

Cerato helps us when we don’t trust our own ability to make decisions. In reality, we probably can make good decisions but we don’t feel that we have the capability to make the decision. Instead of trusting ourselves to make the right decision, we’re always asking others to help us make decisions.

The second Bach Flower remedy for indecision is Scleranthus. Scleranthus is for situations where we have choices, but we just can’t make a choice between two or more alternatives.

Are there other Bach Flower Remedies?

Whilst Cerato and Scleranthus directly relate to different forms of indecision, I always like to explore if there are underlying reasons that may give rise to these feelings of indecision. So, yes, other remedies may be needed in addition to the two we have introduced.

For example, a client may usually be very decisive, but has been through a long demanding period at work and feels overwhelmed in addition to feeling indecisive. In this case, the Bach Flower Remedy Elm might be helpful too.

If discussion revealed that indecision was related to earlier life experiences, the Bach Flower Remedy Hornbeam may be relevant.

As with all cases, I use Dr Bach’s discussion-based approach to try to find out any underlying causes that sit behind our feelings and which combination of remedies work best for the client.
